The international music scene came together in downtown Los Angeles last night, where the 2023 Grammy Awards saw industry giants polish up, led by none other than Beyoncé.

Fresh off a controversial trip to Dubai, and after selling out tickets for her Renaissance World Tour that sent the hive into a frenzy, the notoriously private singer has found herself firmly in the spotlight of late. She wasn’t ashamed of that on Sunday night.

Her red carpet look, which she posted on Instagram, was a custom silver foil Gucci design that featured a nude corset bust, a thigh-high slit, and ruffled trim. Her lace-up silver heels were from affordable brand Femme LA, and she completed the look with bicep-length leather opera gloves.

Joining her in raising the star power was Jennifer Lopez, who was another shining sight in custom Gucci. JLo’s look revolved around a bold jumpsuit that cascaded into a sheer navy train. She added oomph with dangling strands of crystal embellishments falling from the bodice.

Elsewhere, the ball beauties wore blue. Taylor Swift embraced the trend and looked chic in a Roberto Cavalli two-piece ensemble that featured a floor-length skirt and matching long-sleeved crop top. Both were a deep blue, dotted with star embroidery.

Cardi B followed the memo, as she arrived with husband Offset in one of the most statuesque looks of the night. The cobalt-colored twisted gown seemed to defy gravity and was designed by Indian courtier Gaurav Gupta. The look made its runway debut at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week just two weeks ago.

As is to be expected when it comes to one of the biggest nights out in the music industry, many artists went for the dramatic. This year, the statement makers were led by Sam Smith, who has just emerged from a heated debate following the release of his nipple-tassel heavy music video, for the new single ‘I’m Not Here To Make Friends’. Dispute didn’t see Smith become a wallflower, however, as they arrived in a bright red Valentino Opera coat, complete with cane, top hat, veil, and matching leather gloves.

And there was more. Smith not only went for the voluptuous blush, but was joined by a monochrome entourage. Singer Kim Petras and Ru Paul’s Drag Race stars Violet Chachki and Gottmik, plus four backup models, took to the carpet, dressed in red, next door.

Competing for the most extravagant was Lizzo, who channeled Florence Pugh’s flowery cape into midsummer, in an ornate orange look from Dolce & Gabbana. She was joined by her new boyfriend Myke Wright, just hours after breaking the news on Instagram. And the current queen of the avant-garde, Doja Cat, was turning heads in a skintight black latex dress by Versace.

But it was the boys this year who sent the Internet into oblivion. And one in particular; Harry Styles. The singer took home the top prize for ‘Album of the Year’ and stayed true to his extravagant style in a cheeky jumpsuit covered in Swarovski diamond print and the colors of the rainbow. The dazzling dungarees style was a custom look by EgonLab, a Paris-based brand known for its luxe gender-fluid clothing, and featured no fewer than 250,000 hand-applied crystals, taking over 150 hours to construct.

Pharrell Williams also chose to support a younger label, as he wore a studded red leather tracksuit by upcoming Portuguese label Ernest W. Baker.
