Black Panther 2 Debuts as MCU Movie Hits Disney+

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is bringing the tribes of Wakanda together again as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever lands on Disney+.

Ryan Coogler returned to the director’s chair for the 2018 follow-up Black Pantherfollowing the tragic passing of star Chadwick Boseman.

The film had the honor of completing Phase 4 of the MCU before moving on to the Phase 5 lineup of Blade, Thunderbolts, and more.

As the movie finally becomes available to stream, here’s everything you need to know about it. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to emit

Although Boseman’s passing left a hole in the wakandan forever cast, thankfully there’s a mix of old and new faces to honor his legacy.

First off, Letitia Wright returns as Shuri: T’Challa’s resourceful sister who created her older brother’s costume in the first film.

Maintaining family ties, Angela Bassett also returns as Queen Ramonda, the widow of King T’Chaka and current ruler of Wakanda.

There’s also more of Nakia from Lupita Nyong’o, who was T’Challa’s love interest in the first film.

Danai Gurira returns as the fearsome Okoye to lead the all-female Dora Milaje warriors. Martin Freeman reprises his role as CIA agent Everett Ross, and Winston Duke once again plays M’Baku, the leader of the Jabari tribe.

As for newcomers, there’s the highly publicized arrival of Tenoch Huerta as Namor. Dubbed Marvel’s First Mutant, Namor the Sub-Mariner predates Marvel Comics along with the original Human Torch and Captain America as one of Timely Comics’ ‘big three’.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Namor, with an Easter egg back in 2010. iron man 2 apparently referring to Namor’s homeland of Atlantis.

Namor’s ties to Black Panther were confirmed in Avengers Endgame when Okoye referred to the handling of a series of deep-sea earthquakes off the coast of Africa. Writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus confirmed that it was a mockery of Namor.

Finally, there’s the debut of Dominique Thorn’s Riri Williams. In a glimpse of the character in the trailer, we see her honoring her legacy as the next Iron Man by making her own suit. She’s a subtle throwback to Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark doing the same in 2008. Iron Man.

Iron heart will have its own Disney+ show in the near future.

Michaela Coel also makes her way into the MCU as Aneka, the woman who trained the Dora Milaje.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever release date

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now available on Disney+.

Say wakandan forever had a troubled production would be an understatement. Although Kevin Feige officially confirmed black panther 2 at Comic-Con 2019, plans were irrevocably changed by Boseman’s death in August 2020.

He was selected to return for a trilogy of Black Panther films, however his death came after Coogler had already delivered a first draft for black panther 2 it meant that he had to adjust to cope with his passing.

Feige quickly shot down the idea of ​​playing T’Challa again, while Coogler left to refine his script. At this point, the release was moved from May 2022 to July 8.

Despite Boseman’s death, filming was only pushed back three months to June 2021.

The film faced further complications, including Wright suffering an injury on set, COVID restrictions, and Lupita Nyong’o testing positive for the virus.

Wakanda forever’The theatrical release was pushed back again to November 11, 2022.
