Elliot Gindi, Tighnari’s English voice actor in genshin impactHe is currently under fire online after being accused of alleged abusive behavior.
On Tuesday (February 7) the voice actor Announced on his personal Twitter account that he was taking a break from his online activity to seek therapy.
Gindi claimed that the “influx of fans and fame” he gained from playing Tighnari in genshin impact “They’ve really screwed me up.”
“I know I smile a lot in front of the camera and seem very confident, but the truth is that this influx of fans and the fame has really thrown me off. My friends have recommended that I take a break and seek therapy, so I am. I will be back when The therapist says I should. Thanks for everything,” Gindi said.
However, Gindi would return to Twitter with an official statement and an apology. In a Twitlonger, Gindi affirms that her departure from her social networks was due to the serious allegations that would come to light a day after she announced her departure.
Hours before Gindi’s tweet confirming the allegations, Twitter user @FretCore posted a document containing evidence of Gindi’s crimes, which allegedly included emotional abuse, blackmail, sexism, and having sex with underage fans.
FretCore said in a subsequent tweet that they were able to collect the information they posted as they are one of Gindi’s main moderators for his Twitch and Discord channels.
Twitter user @phiotan corroborated FretCore’s post, saying that they were both moderators on Gindi’s Discord and posted their own evidence of the voice actor’s abusive behavior.
Other users have too introduce oneself to publish experiences that support the accusations against Gindi, including a user who was allegedly groomed by the voice actor, posting screenshots of their conversations.
Gindi would confirm in his Twitlonger apology that most of the allegations raised by these users are true, while denying his alleged relationship with underage fans.
An officer moderator. genshin impact subreddit said that they have passed on relevant information about the allegations against Gindi to developer HoYoverse. The developer has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
Genshin Impact Voice Director Speaks
Chris Faiella, the voice director of the English dub for Genshin Impact, also stood by the people allegedly victimized by Gindi and said that he will inform HoYoverse about the situation.
“To say that I am angry, disappointed and heartbroken by all of this would be an understatement. My heart goes out to anyone who has been the victim of this unacceptable and inappropriate behavior,” Faiella said.
“Trust that I am doing everything I can, using the limited power I have, to rectify this situation and I will absolutely inform the people of miHoYo (HoYoverse).”
This is not the first time that a genshin impact The voice actor has been in trouble for abusive and offensive behavior.
In October 2021, HoYoverse suspended their cooperation with Li Yuantao after it came to light that he committed adultery and manipulated his fans for sexual favors.
Li Yuantao was the Chinese voice actor for Oz, the familiar of the playable character Fischl. Zhao Yuecheng would later replace Li Yuantao as the Chinese voice actor for Oz.
Based on that earlier case, it is expected that Gindi can be replaced as Tighnari’s voice actor.
Voice actors for many genshin impact characters have been at the center of many controversies in the past. That being said, most of them were actually harassed, unlike the Gindi case.
Last August, Dori’s English voice actor was harassed after members of the genshin impact The community on Twitter directed their anger at the character’s portrayal towards his voice actor.
Earlier this month, Candace’s English voice actor was also harassed for supporting another voice actor who condemned ‘fujoshi’, a term commonly used to refer to straight women consuming anime media about gay men, for fetishizing homosexual relationships.
