Pokémon GO’s latest event, Team GO Rocket Takeover, gives players the best chances to fill out their Shadow Pokémon Pokédex through this Sunday (February 5) and catch some new ones like Shadow Galvantula, Alolan Ninetales, Grumpig, Vulpix, Zebstrika and even Shadow Registeel. !
But are the new shadow Pokémon good at PvP?
In this guide, we’ll examine the pros and cons of each Pokemon and offer suggestions on how to best use them in competitive battles.
Shadow Registered Steel
Registeel has been a strong Pokémon in battle, despite taking a few nerfs in the past. It is considered one of the best in PvP lately, as it is capable of breaking through some of the toughest opponents with a deadly combination of Fighting and Electric-type attacks. Registeel also has higher HP and Defense, and is resistant to 11 attacks and Pokemon types, and vulnerable to only 3.
But what about his shadowy counterpart? Being a Shadow Pokemon will give buffs to your attack. However, with Registeel’s charge move already mastered, this adds nothing to buff it.
In fact, being a Shadow-type Pokémon takes away one of Registeel’s greatest strengths: defense. With defense down like Shadow Registeel, winning battles will be uphill. Shadow Registeel can lose battles against Venusaur and Altaria, which is usually a piece of cake for a normal Registeel.
This will make it difficult for you to use Registeel in big league or even ultra league without exhausting many resources in the process.
So overall, Shadow Registeel is a downgrade since it will cost tons of resources to build. Maybe you can keep one to complete your Pokédex.
Shadow Alolan Ninetales
Overall, Alolan Ninetales doesn’t stand out as much compared to Registeel’s bulkiness or Galvantula’s high attack power. And when we look at this Pokemon, it can be evaluated based on two different attack types: Snow Dust and Charm.
Shadow Alolan Ninetales with Powder Snow pick up more wins across the board, with a chance to beat Lickitung, Venusaura, Skarmory, Shadow Walrein, Froslass, Lanturn, and more. However, in ultra League, Shadow Alolan Ninetales with Powder Snow is not that impressive. Investing in Ultra League would be a waste of resources.
Instead, you might want to turn your attention to Shadow Alolan Ninetales with Charm. This Charmer can easily go through more PVP fights, including Noctowl, Water Azumarill, and Lanturn. The technique is to keep using Charm during the battle. This should make battles shorter, especially against Noctowl before he can get to a third chare move.
In general, Shadow Alolan Ninetales (Powder) is an improvement for big leagueso building this shadow Pokémon could be worth your time and resources.
However, in ultra leaguewhile it also gives some good results, building one might not be worth it as it would consume too much dust and candy.
And you’re in luck if you’re able to catch Charm Alolan Ninetales, because it’s worth building for both of you. Big Y Ultraleague.
Galvantula Shadow
Galvantula isn’t known for its bulk and defense like Registeel, but it is quite known for being an attacker. With increased Attack stats as a Shadow Pokémon, Galvantula benefits from gaining more in 1v1 shields and 2v2 shields in big league.
This shadow Pokemon can take down huge grass-types like Venusaur and Trevenant and only lose to Shadow Walrein in a 1v1 shield.
At 0 shields, Galvantula can take out Registeel, Noctowl, Mandibuzz, Drapion, and Toxicroak, but at the expense of potential losses against Azumarll.
This makes Shadow Galvantula worthwhile in big league
In ultra League, however, Shadow Galvantula seems to be more of a downgrade compared to his Normal version. In shield 1v1, Shadow Galvantula can lose against Talonflame and Umbreon.
It might seem like it still looks good to build this shadow Pokemon for certain scenarios, but to ensure success, you’ll need a perfect candidate 15-15-15 IV, 356 XL Candy, and over 500 million stardust to level up. fifty
Oh! So maybe skip that near-impossible attempt.
Zebstrika Shadow
Opinions are divided on this Electric-type Pokémon. Like other electrics, Zebstrika has a crystalline quality. Its stats are almost similar to Galvantula but with less impact. However, you can consider Zebstrika (both Normal and Shadow-types) as a curveball outside of the meta in leagues.
In big league, it is mainly a discount. With 0v0 Shielding, it can overpower other Pokemon, however as the protection goes up, Shadow Zebstrika’s chances of winning decrease.
It’s nice to know that with the right gear, you can take down creatures like Vensaur, Deoxys, Lickitung, and even Registeel.
You might consider keeping a couple of these with good stats and IVs in your team for different scenarios.
ultra league it’s a different story. Shadow Zebstrika can easily take down opponents in 1v1 shields, electrocuting Virizion, Buzzwole, CharmTales, among others.
The 0v0 Shielding matchups have losses against Mandibuzz and a couple others, however the ability to take down Cresselia, Toxicroak, and Registeel makes up for that.
Players can also save up XL Candy because this Shadow Pokémon can be built to level 40 or higher, and still reap the benefits and wins. In general, Shadow Zebstrika is better built for Ultraleague.
Other new shadow Pokemon like Shadow Spoink, Grumpig, Blitzle, and Joltik are also arriving, however these Pokemon aren’t really that notable so don’t waste your efforts finding the perfect one. Instead, maybe try to find a Shadow Vulpix with good stats and not evolve it, just in case little league returns.
