Police ask missing aristocrat with her partner and newborn to get in touch

A missing aristocrat and her sexual assaulter are believed to have been camping in the Sussex countryside with their newborn baby when police directly asked them to get in touch.

Constance Marten, 35, from a wealthy family with royal connections, has lived an isolated life with her boyfriend Mark Gordon, 48, since they met in 2016.

The couple and their newborn went missing in early January and neither have received medical attention since.

A £10,000 reward was previously offered in the search for information on the whereabouts of the trio and the Metropolitan Police said it is still on the table.

The body has reiterated its calls for information, stating that concern for the well-being of the three “continues to grow.”

In an update in the early hours of Sunday, the Met said it believed the missing trio had been camping in the Sussex countryside.

The police service said it had received around 300 calls in the operation to find the couple and their baby, but “unfortunately they have not led to the finding of the couple and their baby.”

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford said: “While we are very grateful to everyone who has already called, we still need to hear from anyone who has seen the couple since Sunday 8th January and we are offering a reward of up to £10,000 for any information. . leading to the family being found.

“I appeal in particular to people who may have spent time in the countryside near Newhaven and elsewhere in Sussex to think carefully about whether they may have seen Constance and Mark in the last four weeks. Given how much time has passed, they may have continued to travel, so I also need to know of anyone who may have seen them further afield.”

Addressing the missing couple directly, he said: “Constance and Mark, your baby boy has spent the first month of his short life exposed to the elements when he should be safe and warm and most importantly seen by doctors.

“After a month you must be running out of money. Pick up the phone and at least let us know you’re okay. We are ready to come to you and make sure that you and the baby receive medical care.”

He also insisted that members of the public should not feel concerned about coming forward with information and appealed to people to do “the right thing.”

He said: “We know the baby was still alive on January 8 and finding the baby remains our top priority. He may have information, but he was reluctant to come forward to help us find the family. It doesn’t matter why you didn’t speak to us sooner, what matters is doing the right thing now for the sake of this highly vulnerable baby.

“If you have seen the family, if you gave them directions, if they got into your taxi or went into your store to buy food, drink or nappies, however small it may seem, please get in touch.

“You can also be sure that if you’ve been paid to provide a service, an elevator, a place to stay or anything else, you don’t have any kind of problem, we just need you to tell us what you know so we can find them and put them on the job.” safe.”

It emerged that the couple had abandoned the car when it broke down and took a taxi to Liverpool, and from there to Harwich in Essex.

They have since been seen in East London, before traveling to North London and then to Newhaven, East Sussex.
