Ghost has been known for its gorgeous bias-cut dresses since its inception in 1984. And when underwear ruled the ’90s, the British label stood out with a more casual take on the “sexy” trend; aided by its signature viscose-satin fabric that flowed and fell as beautifully as silk, yet required far less maintenance.

The cult of the bias cut has been traditionally exclusive for decades: Everything from the perpetuation of ’90s supermodel imagery to unindulgent men’s cuts has kept things restrictive. So we salute Ghost for offering a broader take on the trend and committing to the inclusion of sizing.

There are so many playful pieces in the new Ghost Archive that we want to highlight – the modern bridal looks, the cleverly cut gowns, the ethereal milkmaid dress and the 80s-inspired belted midi in which we totally get a glimpse of the Princess of Wales. ), but they are the capsule pieces that we covet the most.
Grab the matching tank top and slip skirt. They coordinate to create a formal dress, but can also be mixed and matched with denim, joggers, and tailored to create daytime looks. The satin camisole and drawstring palazzo pants are a dream team – they’re great basics whether worn together or separately, not to mention they come in a rainbow of sweet colors. Adult pajamas are a defining part of the line, too: worn with heels and jewelry, they’re a frumpy night out look, but they’re also comfortable enough for working from home or sleeping in.
But if you buy one thing from the Ghost’s Archive line, make it a slip dress. We’ve raved about this piece as a modern must-have, and will continue to do so for years to come.
These iterations are particularly useful because they forgo spaghetti straps for something sportier and wider, making layering easier and helping to steer lustrous satin away from the lingerie arena.
Choose between delicate lilac and timeless polka dot midis, or the more dramatic floor-sweeping maxi iteration. The styling possibilities are endless: bolster yours with a T-shirt or turtleneck top, top it with a blazer, pair it with a knit to create the illusion of a slip skirt. As for the shoes?
